Who can be an TIPI BNB host?
It’s easy to become an TIPI BNB host in most areas, and it’s always free to create a listing. Entire apartments and homes, private rooms, tree-houses, tipi's, trap camps and cabins are just a few of the properties hosts have shared on TIPI BNB. First Nation, Inuit, Metis, North American Natives or in general the Indigenous People of Turtle Island are the only people allowed to Host on this website.
For more details on what’s expected of hosts, check out TIPI BNB’s Host Standards, which revolve around safety, security, and reliability, and hospitality standards, which help hosts earn great guest reviews.
How do reviews work?
All the reviews on TIPI BNB are written by hosts and travelers from our community, so any review you see is based on a stay that a guest had in a host's listing.
You have 14 days after checkout to write a review for a stay and you can edit your review for up to 48 hours after submitting, unless your guest completes their review. Once you both complete your reviews, or 14 days goes by, the reviews are published.
You can find your reviews from guests at any time and when you get booked by a guest, you can check out their reviews from past hosts.
What do I do if a guest breaks something in my place?
If a guest breaks something and you need to make a claim, you can do so by deducting from the security deposit within 14 days of your guest’s checkout date or before the next guest checks in, whichever is earlier.
If your guest agrees to the amount you requested, we'll release your payout in 5-7 business days.
If your guest declines or doesn't respond within 72 hours, you can involve TIPI BNB in the case. If we require additional documentation, you'll have 72 hours to provide this documentation.
Most claims will be resolved within one week. We'll make sure you and your guest are represented fairly, and if we determine you're owed money, we'll send it to you in a separate payout.
How much does it cost to list my space?
Signing up for TIPI BNB and listing your home is completely free.
Once you receive a reservation, we charge an TIPI BNB service fee for hosts, generally 3%, to help cover the cost of running the business.
What is required of guests before booking?
We ask everyone who uses TIPI BNB for a few pieces of information before they travel with us. Guests need to have this info completely filled out before they can make a reservation request. This info helps make sure you know who to expect, and how to contact the guest.
TIPI BNB’s requirements for guests include:
• Full name
• Email address
• Confirmed phone number
• Introductory message
• Agreement to your House Rules
• Payment information
Guests are expected, but not required, to have a profile picture. You may also ask guests to provide ID before booking their space.
How should I choose my listing’s price?
The price you charge for your listing is completely up to you. To help you decide, you can search for comparable listings in your city or neighborhood to get an idea of market prices.
Additional Fees
• Cleaning fee: You can either incorporate a cleaning fee into your nightly price or you can add a cleaning fee in your pricing settings.
• Other fees: To charge extra fees outside of your rates (like a late check-in or pet fee), you must first disclose these potential charges to guests prior to booking and then use our Resolution Centre to securely request payment for additional fees.
What should I do if I'm uncomfortable hosting someone?
If a guest is breaking one of the House Rules you’ve set or has made you feel unsafe through their actions, you can decline their reservation request or cancel the reservation.
Before you've accepted a reservation
We have a number of checks in place to make sure you receive qualified guests. That said, you can decline an individual reservation request and it won't negatively impact your listing's placement in search results.
After you've accepted a reservation
If you've already accepted the reservation, you can cancel it. You may be subject to cancellation penalties if the guest hasn’t broken any House Rules.
How can TIPI BNB help me with setting prices?
TIPI BNB’s doesn’t know pricing for every situation but, you can research other properties in your area and compare and go up or down based on changes in demand for listings like yours.
You’re always responsible for your price, so pricing is controlled by other pricing settings you choose, and you can adjust nightly prices any time.
Pricing is based on the type and location of your listing, the season, demand, and other factors (like events in your area). So, do your homework!!
What protection do I have against property damage?
The TIPI BNB DOESN'T SUPPLY Host Guarantee/Insurance protection, but YOU should for up to $1,000,000 for damages to covered property in the rare event of guest damages above the security deposit or if no security deposit is in place.
Most Host Guarantee/Insurance programs don't cover cash and securities, collectibles, rare artwork, jewelery, pets or personal liability. We recommend that hosts secure or remove valuables when renting their place. The programs/insurance probably doesn't cover loss or damage to property due to wear and tear. Chose your insurer wisely.
